Handwritten minutes of the Federal Council from 1848 now accessible online with text recognition
The Swiss Federal Archives have put the minutes of the Federal Council from 1848 to 1963 online in a new look. The minutes are an important historical source for the history of the federal state.
New online access to the Federal Archives
Research, digitisation, downloads and advice: online access to the Federal Archives brings all these services together on a single web portal (www.recherche.bar.admin.ch). From today, it is available to all users. In the medium term, the Federal Archives plan to make all documents available in digital form. To this end, the digitisation structure is being further expanded between now and 2021.
Statistical Yearbook of Switzerland published for 125th time
(FSO) – The latest 2018 edition of the Statistical Yearbook of Switzerland marks a special anniversary: its publication for the 125th time. No other publication from the Federal Statistical Office (FSO) enjoys such a long tradition nor such importance to users from all walks of life. In addition to the typical presentation of facts on our society, economy, territory and environment, the FSO has added a special supplement to this year’s edition in celebration of the yearbook’s history.
Dormant assets: documents available at the SFA
In 2016, the Swiss Federal Archives (SFA) received some of the documents of the Claims Resolution Tribunal (CRT), the body set up to investigate dormant bank accounts. These documents have now been integrated into the fonds of the SFA and are catalogued on the online search site www.swiss-archives.ch.
