Online access

The online access to the Federal Archives database can be used to search the fonds of the Federal Archives and order the desired source materials.

Official publications

The Amtsdruckschriften platform contains digitised documents and publications of the Federal Archives. They include the Official Bulletin of the Federal Assembly and the Federal Council minutes up to 1963.

Open Government Data

Swiss authorities are making their freely available data accessible centrally on the open government data (OGD) portal opendata.swiss. The data offering is being continually expanded.

Making data usable with LINDAS

Swiss government data are now available as Linked Data at lindas.admin.ch.

NRLA information portal

The history of the New Rail Link through the Alps (NRLA) is documented on the website alptransit-portal.ch. The information and sources are presented chronologically and by theme (politics, society, planning and construction). The website is operated by the Swiss Federal Archives.

Wikimedia CH

The Federal Archives work with Wikimedia CH to publish freely accessible documents from their fonds on the Wikimedia platforms.

The Stapfer-Enquête

The Stapfer-Enquête is a survey of the school situation in the Helvetic Republic. It is named after its initiator, education minister Philipp Albert Stapfer.

Helvetic Roads Survey 1799–1801

Between 1799 and 1801, Division III “Génie, Ponts et Chaussées” of the War Ministry conducted surveys of the cantons regarding road and traffic conditions.

Archipanion for the Schweizer Filmwochenschau

Archipanion uses AI to search for visual content in the Schweizer Filmwochenschau (1940–1975). A descriptive search for scenes or text in the reports complements the traditional archive search.

Git – SFA

The Swiss Federal Archives’ repository on GitHub provides access to the source code of our applications. It allows you to make your own forks and report errors to us or suggest extensions to functionalities in the Issues interface.
